Materialism is the belief that acquiring and possessing material possessions is the key to happiness and fulfillment. It elevates the importance of wealth, possessions, and status above spiritual and relational values. This mindset may lead to spiritual emptiness and a perpetual cycle of wanting more.
Matthew 6:19-20
Jesus’ words remind us of the impermanence of worldly possessions. Instead of placing our focus on accumulating material wealth, we believe that we should strive to invest in treasures that have eternal significance, such as acts of love, kindness, and generosity.
Philippians 4:11-12
The apostle Paul’s words illustrate the power of contentment. True contentment is not dependent on external circumstances but stems from our relationship with God. Cultivating contentment allows us to find joy and peace regardless of our material possessions.

Prioritizing our spiritual growth and relationship with God over material pursuits should be our primary focus. When we seek God’s kingdom and righteousness, He promises to provide for our needs. Trusting in God’s provision frees us from the anxious pursuit of wealth.
